My name is Christian Koch. Together with my wife, my parents, and our chambermaids I run the pension “Haus Waldeck”. I would like to introduce our business and my family to you from a personal perspective.
My mother (formerly a housewife) and my father (formerly a manager in a medium-sized company) acquired “Haus Waldeck” in the Bavarian – Bohemian Forrest more than 25 years ago and learned how to be able to pamper their guests culinary.
In the course of the time, they renovated the old pension, expanded the offer, and added showers and toilets to every room.
Therefore I was able to witness the life of a host family from an early age on, which also was the reason why I wanted to follow in my parent's footstep.
First of all I was fortunate enough to be able to do an apprenticeship as a cook in one of the most famous restaurants of our region from 1984 until 1987. At the same time my wife learned the same profession in another known restaurant. After finishing my apprenticeship, my brother and I managed a hotel and in 1989 I received the certificate of competence for training supervisors at the age of 19. This is how I met my wife Karin, who applied for a job as specialist at our hotel.
Due to my father's critical illness in 1994, my brother and I separated from each other as business partners and I took over “Haus Waldeck” with the help of my wife and my parents. In 1995 Karin and I got married and our first child, Vanessa, was born.
In order to make our guests feel comfortable all around, we have always tried to do best we could. This is why we decided to tear down the old “Haus Waldeck” (1999) and rebuilt it so that we can keep the same familial atmosphere, but add new offers. Our son Marcel was born in the following year.
In the future, my wife, my parents, our room service, and I would like to pamper and please our guests, because we want you to have an interesting and wonderful stay at “Haus Waldeck”, also in the next 25 years to come.
